Google Glass

In 2014 we examined how could devices like Google Glass be used to change the workflow while operating portable measurement equipment. Typically an operator uses a laptop and the device and has to constantly look at the screen which causes numerous ergonomic issues when measuring parts on the manufacturing floor. Putting the display right in front of the user allows for the immediacy of the information and easier workflow. We developed a full remote measurement workflow using Google Glass, Voice Commands and a remote laptop with PC-DMIS Measurement software. For obvious reasons this has not been deployed as an actual product but has led us into our current examination of AR, MR and VR concepts as applied to Human Machine Interfaces and Industrial Equipment.
